KSU's Sept. 14 Game at San Jose St. to Air on TruTV
Kennesaw State is slated to have five games of its inaugural Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) schedule air nationally after the Mountain West Conference released broadcast information. KSU visits San Jose State on TruTV/Max with a 7 p.m. ET start Saturday, Sept. 14. Kennesaw State faces an exciting lineup during its Conference USA debut. The Owls enter only their 10th year of competition with home matchups against defending champion Liberty and bowl-winner Jacksonville State.

Nine Owls Earn Athlon Preseason All-CUSA Team Honors
Nine student-athletes were tabbed to Athlon Sports' Preseason All-Conference USA Team. Redshirt jr. Gabriel Benyard earned three selections including second team punt returner, third team kick returner and fourth team RB honors. Joining Benyard on the third team was RB Michael Benefield, DL Donovan Westmoreland and Jordan Miles and LB Garland Benyard. TE Carson Kent, LB Donelius Johnson and DBs JeRico Washington Jr., and Sidney Porter were named to the fourth team.

Conference USA Officially Welcomes KSU as 10th Member
Conference USA welcomes KSU as the league’s 10th member with Monday marking their official start in the conference. The Owls compete in 18 sports, 17 of which will compete in CUSA. Only women's lacrosse will remain in the ASUN. “This is a monumental day for Kennesaw State, and we are proud to be members of Conference USA,” said Director of Athletics Milton Overton. Men’s sports at KSU include baseball, basketball, cross country, football, golf, indoor track & field, outdoor track & field and tennis.

This can work, and it can work right away. Jacksonville State was one of the more pleasant surprises in 2023 as it made the move up from the FCS world to FBS status. Sam Houston might be the comp, though, for Kennesaw State. The Bearkats were an FCS power, prepped for the move up in status by reserving a slew of key parts to preserve a year of eligibility, and then … it was a rough year. They couldn’t pull off wins in close games in an 0-8 start, then it all started to work with wins in three of the last four weeks.
